Yebo Africa

How We Got Started
In 2001 the Karathanassis Foundation formed its charity division, YEBO AFRICA. YEBO AFRICA is an independent charity funded entirely by private citizens and receives no funds from any government or NGO.
Traditionally aid has been delivered to African countries by international charities with top heavy administrative structures. These charities work through diplomatic channels and spend notoriously large amounts of the public’s money on administration and publicity costs. A lot of good work has been done but has been achieved at a high cost and much aid has been pilfered by corrupt administrations.

Our Mission
YEBO AFRICA is a charity which brings assistance directly to the people of Africa. The operation is based on a community to community ideology. YEBO AFRICA is made up of dedicated volunteers from all backgrounds who donate their time and skills to make this worthwhile project happen. They place special interest on getting sponsorship to cover all of the operating cost to ensure 100% of the donations get directly into the hands of the most needy.
All the aid missions are organized “IN HOUSE” the volunteers appeal for the donations themselves, they collect the donations, they pack them, ship them, transport them and distribute them themselves.
YEBO AFRICA always seeks sponsorship to cover its extremely minimal administration expenses and so ensures donations go directly to the people they are intended for and are not squandered on operational costs. Visit yeboafrica.org.
Volunteer Programmes
All members of the YEBO AFRICA team are contributing their time and experience to make this worthwhile project happen, and at the same time draw the attention of the world to the plight of the displaced people of Africa. A communications plan has been prepared and discussions have been started with various international media organisations.
The success of the mission, however, depends on the generosity of the individual and corporate sponsors, many of whom will share YEBO AFRICA’s concern that, wherever possible, targeted, practical support to the communities that need it most is more likely to obtain sustainable results than large-scale governmental aid programmes, where significant amounts of money are wasted, misdirected or stolen.
In light of the widespread publicity we anticipate this project will attract, Yebo! Africa is keen to work with corporate sponsors to develop an attractive sponsorship package that reflects the level of their contribution.
